Beta vulgaris (beet) is a species of flowering plant of the family Amaranthaceae. The root vegetable is known as the beetroot (or Chukander in Hindi). It is of greatest importance to produce table sugar.
Beet contains water-soluble nitrogenous pigments called betalains. Betalains have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory activities, antimicrobial, antiviral and anti-aging properties.
In addition to vitamins and minerals, beetpowder also contain naturally-occurring nitrates that helps improve vascular function (blood flow). Beets lower blood pressure, and helps to increase exercise performance. Beets have a high water content and low calories.
The roots are cleaned , chopped, and solar dried to flakes (pink to red) in perfection.
Beets have a mild and slightly sweet taste. You may blend beetpowder (or beet juice) into smoothies, mix them into sauces (for extra flavor) or sprinkle over oatmeal/yogurt/dough/baked goods.
